Before becoming a minister I was a maths teacher in rural Zambia as a VSO followed by a few years in comprehensive and grammar schools.
My theological training was done at Manchester University and Hartley Victoria College - then part of the Northern Baptist College.
My first appointment was in Dudley which involved work with the Dudley Community Relations Council and
the local Churches Housing Association. This was followed by appointments in Stourport and then Shrewsbury which led me into hospital chaplaincy including working with people with the full range of learning difficulties.
I then took up an appointment in Devon as a school chaplain and Head of Religious Studies at Shebbear College a Methodist Independent School followed by eleven years at Rydal-Penrhos as School Chaplain, becoming a Boarding House master and Head of Boarding and Pastoral Care. I also introduced Psychology as a sixth form subject.
Finally returning to Circuit Ministry some six years ago becoming Superintendent as well as serving for six years as an Assistant Chair of the
Wales Synod - a post from which I have recently stepped down as I begin a new phase having pastoral charge of St John's Conwy and Rhos Methodist
Rachel who is a nurse, and I, have three children, two in London and one in Sheffield. I have always run and we enjoy walking in North Wales as well as in warmer climes when we get the chance on holidays.
I am really looking forward to another steep learning curve, to getting to know a lot of new people, to continue on the journey knowing that whatever the future holds it will be one in which we have the faith to see the next step and take it and as we reach out to those who travel with us.
With every blessing
Revd Keith Tewkesbury
